The Museum has an exciting opportunity for an educator and team leader to join our education team as Assistant Manager Digital Education, providing high quality education expertise and experience to deliver high standard on-site education programs and teacher professional learning.

The Education Business Unit manages education programming and resources for schools, students and teachers. Programs and resources are available onsite at the Museum as well as online and through other outreach activities.


This position works with the EL1 Education Manager to manage the development and delivery of on-site education programs for students and teachers.

A key responsibility of the role is the supervision and development of the Education Officers who deliver the programs.


This role and the Digital Education Manager work in close collaboration with the Head of Education, Education Manager and Assistant Manager Education to ensure the strategic and operational outcomes of the business unit are achieved with the effective use of resources and alignment of outputs and activities.


The key duties of the position include:
You will have previous project management experience, leading teams and managing shared resources to deliver quality outcomes. You have experience in developing education programs and resources via different methods (physical and digital)

A flexible, agile and innovative approach will be highly regarded.


  • Demonstrated experience initiating, developing, delivering, and evaluating Australian Curriculum aligned programs to students and professional learning programs to teachers.
  • Proven capability to manage and lead and develop education officers and volunteers responsible for the delivery of programs to school students and teachers.
  • Good project management skills, delivering quality results in relation to classroom resources.
  • Strong understanding of educational theory, practice and trends to engage students and teachers
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills and a strong record of working with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and interest in, Australian history and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures and a willingness and capacity to continue to further this understanding.

- hold and maintain a valid ACT Working With Vulnerable People registration
- hold education qualifications.
