    ERM is seeking a hands-on Renewable Energy (Solar & Onshore Wind) Principal Consultant for our Latin American & Caribbean (LAC) Region to support and grow the Transaction Advisory (Merger and Acquisitions (M&A) for Renewable Energy: solar, onshore/offshore wind, energy storage, transmission, and hydroelectric projects. In this role, you will focus on managing and supporting a number of Merger and Acquisitions Transactions as well as permitting, baseline studies, regulatory compliance projects for renewable energy clients based in LAC.     The incumbent will be based in any of our offices of LAC- Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Peru or Guyana.

    The ideal candidate will also support the successful delivery of ERM proposals and projects in line with our vision, values and our strategic imperatives by:

  • Adhering to all ERM and client requirements, specifically those related to H&S and governance
  • Identifying opportunities for evolving services in line with client needs
  • Identifying follow-on sales opportunities in respect of designated projects
  • Contributing to achieving sales target by supporting Account Management team and Business Units.
  • The successful candidate will leverage ERM's global status as a sustainability leader and drive our market growth by supporting clients in LAC. This position will focus utilizing your industry connections, building on our client relationships, and supporting Merger and Acquisition Transactions, as well as, siting, permitting, and evaluating environmental impacts of energy projects. Experience will include assessment of compliance and development and permitting of solar, onshore/offshore wind, energy storage, transmission, and hydroelectric projects. Projects are often fast-paced, multi-faceted, and geographically diverse. This position will require the candidate to demonstrate motivation and focus to exceed client needs. The candidate must be adept at managing varying priorities while working on concurrent projects.

    As a Principal Consultant, you will be expected to:

  • Manage and successfully deliver large, complex and/or multidisciplinary consulting and due diligence (Technical Due Diligence, Vender Due Diligence and Lender's Technical Advisor) projects and/or specific deliverables or phases of work on larger, more complex or higher complexity programs of solar, onshore/offshore wind and hydroelectric projects.
  • Deliver proposals, which will include development of our company profile, scopes of work, scheduling and commercial terms.
  • Lead projects that provide our clients with a technical, operational and business plan evaluation of their proposed investment on infrastructure assets.
  • Lead the coordination of typical project deliverables such as Q&A submission, management sessions, client meetings and report delivery.
  • Work effectively across technical communities within ERM and subcontractors who are identified as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support project delivery and client interaction.
  • Complete internal development tasks to improve the functionality of the infrastructure service line.
  • Lead, manage performance, hire and retain, inspire and mentor personnel for overall success of technical teams.
  • Understand the interrelationships between ERM practices and policies and how these are applied within the business model(s).
  • Establish strong working relationships with clients through project delivery and face to face meetings.
  • Take direction and achieve objectives with minimal oversight.
  • Participate in construction monitoring visits to project sites.
  • Support repeat business and develop new business opportunities by maintaining superior work quality demonstrated by client satisfaction.
  • Manage multiple large, fast-paced, and complex projects on time and on budget including elements such as scope and delivery requirements, KPIs, budgeting, resourcing, planning, coordinating field and other technical work, and managing health, safety and risk aspects.
  • Actively participate in thought leadership events, power industry working groups, and be attentive to market conditions and energy trends.
  • Job Requirements and Skills

    To apply for this role at ERM, you should provide evidence / demonstrate the following skills.

  • A solid academic background with an engineering bias (for example, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering).
  • Minimum 10 years of technical consulting, engineering, or operational experience during your career within the energy sector: onshore/offshore wind and solar PV.
  • Management of previous external client projects or experience in a client facing role.
  • The ability to manage or assist with complex project delivery coordinating multiple workstreams into client deliverables.
  • Previous experience in technical due diligence.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to identify risks and opportunities within technical documentation, site visits and technical discussions, relating to points such as asset integrity, operational performance, management systems or business plans.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, self-sufficiency and the ability to work successfully in a fast turnaround team environment.
  • Must be able to promote and execute quality work, and ensure high standards are being achieved.
  • Exhibit advanced report writing and presentation skills. Experience in a client facing role.
  • Experience reviewing EPC contracts, Financial Models, design and specifications, budgets for industrial projects.
  • Experience assessing asset integrity and performance (HSE, maintenance, availability, etc.)
  • The ability to manage or assist with complex project delivery coordinating multiple workstreams into client deliverables.
  • Ability to work both independently, as a collaborative member of a project team, and proficient in leading a geographically diverse team.
  • Interest in domestic and overseas travel to perform site visits when required.
  • Skilled at reviewing permits, environmental and social plans.
  • Familiar with World Bank's social requirements and Equator Principles.
  • Familiar with decarbonization strategies and technologies.
  • Fluent in English.
