    Position Description:

    Our Warehouse and Depot Platform team is looking for warehouse technology subject matter experts who will provide technical leadership in standardizing our warehouse devices (label scan devices and label printers) inventory, driving large scale hardware technical debt replacement initiatives, and guiding cross functional teams through complex customer implementations and challenging cure periods.

    The right candidates for these positions will possess a detailed understanding of technology in a Warehouse operational environment, having earned this experience through a career spent on-site supporting operational teams with reliable hardware/software integrated platforms.

    We are large organisation that generates a steady stream of improvement initiatives, business growth opportunities, and challenging operational situations, which require an ability to comfortably manage multiple, and often competing, priorities simultaneously. This is a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is required.

    These regional positions work in concert, but remotely, with our local technology support teams in each country where we have operations, however candidates must be prepared to travel extensively (up to 50% of the time) throughout their assigned geographical territory.

    Service Ownership of Warehouse Technology

    Listed below are some of the key responsibilities our Senior Engineers take on. However, we work in an Agile environment, making this a superb opportunity for you to carve this role for yourself:

  • Drive asset inventory accuracy, device and vendor evaluation/selection, and modernisation roadmap for our warehouse devices within an assigned geographic territory.
  • Experience with scan devices and Label Printers for vendorse.g. Zebra, Symbol, Motorola, Honeywell, with Android and WinCE
  • Experience with remote monitoring tools/applications that interface with scan devices and Label Printerse.g. SOTI, Flexera
  • Take ownership to guide cross functional resources through complex technical challenges which occur when operational services are being impacted by hardware failures, network outages, and application outages within an assigned geographic territory.
  • Ensure Maersk governance, frameworks and cybersecurity standards are followed and implemented effectively.
  • Maintain a pool of warehouse device and technology installation vendors within assigned geographical territory which can be called upon in emergency situations.
  • Provide feedback to vendor management and procurement teams on supplier performance, making recommendations for alternative sourcing of hardware and services.
  • Provide technical guidance to Industrial Engineering/Technology teams in their drive to automate our warehouse operations.
  • Provide training as needed to technical and non-technical teams for warehouse devices.

  • Experience in directly supporting new warehouse technology installation projects, customer implementations project, and direct on-site support.
  • Partners with Project Mangers or Operational Managers in coordinating troubleshoot and testing efforts between technical (hardware and application) and non-technical (operational and commercial) teams.
  • Drives project technology teams through challenging situations to successfully deliver solutions within promised timelines.
  • Validate technology incident level escalation request from service desk (Level 1 Support) before they raise to Customer Engineering teams (Level 2 support).
  • Provide constant performance feedback to team members and their managers to ensure positive recognition culture and identifying upskilling opportunities.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain key relationships with technical and non-technical leaders within assigned geographic territory.
  • Technical Expertise

  • Experience with warehouse operational technology architectures including OT WiFi LAN (indoor & outdoor), handheld scan device interfacing, label printing services.
  • Experience in RF survey, design, implementation & certificationPerform wireless network assessments, modeling & analysisFamiliarity with architectural differences for RF propagation
  • Experienced with warehouse operational technology architecturesKnowledge with OT Wireless Devices and vendors. (Cisco – HP )
  • Experience in level 1 technical incident triage within an integrated warehouse devices (scan devices and label printers), WAN/LAN network, and the operational process enabling applications (WMS/YMS)
  • Experience with Warehouse, Container Depots and/or Cold Storage operational processes and enabling WMS/YMS applications (Manhattan Scale and Korber/HighJump.
  • Application configuration experience on handheld scanning devices
  • Proficient with test equipment including RF sources and spectrum analyzers.
  • Position Accountabilities

  • Stability metric improvements as measured by reductions in number of reported warehouse technology incidents
  • Maintain high-level technical specification/design documentation for each of the sites in regional scope.
  • Speed to resolution improvements as measured by reductions in the average and maximum time to resolve reporting incidents.
  • Technical Debt budget adherence as measured by actual spend deviation from released funding.
  • Technical Debt remediation as measured by net reduction in number of end-of-life units in operation.
  • Positive qualitative input from key operations, commercial and technical stakeholders, specifically in times of high urgency and high complexity problem solving.
