WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER:


The
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist for TNC's Peru Program supports program objectives by working in a complex matrix organization environment.

She/He fosters adaptive management of TNC's Shared Conservation Agenda (SCA) 2030 Goals for biodiversity and climate in Peru and Latin America.

To do so, the
MEL Specialist will develop a MEL strategy for the Program and drive its implementation in Peru with emphasis on SCA outcomes and intermediate results, and their connection with relevant Iconic Places (IP).

She/He will work with conservation staff and external experts to design, procure, or implement solutions to meet MEL requirements within the Peru Program.

She/He will lead the review, completion and update of the Peru Program HUB system.

She/He may solicit and secure project bids and negotiate contracts, and work with outside vendors to provide planning and MEL support.

The MEL Specialist provides guidance and facilitation capacities for planning with a system thinking approach. She/He conducts scientific research, records data to support planning efforts and adaptive management.

She/He assists in writing proposals to advance the strategic objectives and outcomes of Peru's conservation programs, and to inform adaptive management.

She/He contributes to TNC's organization-wide MEL framework, guidance, and tools, by providing oversight of MEL practices, processes, and data.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:


Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree and 5 years' experience in conservation and sustainable development practice or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience developing and implementing effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning for multiple projects or programs.
  • Experience with MEL frameworks, best practices, and tools in the environmental or sustainability field in Latin America.
  • Experience with global and regional biodiversity, climate change, and sustainability goals and related MEL policies and practices.
  • Experience in system thinking, planning, design, and adapting management of complex or multiple programs and projects.
  • Experience engaging with and codeveloping analyses to inform management decisions.
  • Experience collecting, manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting scientific data, and preparing reports of findings.
  • Experience with selfdirection and teamwork. Ability to work in a teambased environment with internal and external partners.
  • Experience managing complex projects including the financial aspect and coordinating the work of peers and partners.
  • Experience with organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people.
  • Good command of Spanish and English to communicate via written, spoken, and graphical means.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MSc degree and more than 7 years' experience in conservation practice or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience in Peru and abroad.
  • Multilanguage skills and multicultural or crosscultural experience appreciated.
  • Knowledge of methods and standards of biodiversity information systems and initiatives or related field.
  • Experience fundraising and/or writing grants and research proposals.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance needs for scientific rigor and practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and motivate and develop others.
  • Applied scientist who is a trusted partner, formulates useful questions for management, makes connections, adjusts to changing conditions.
  • Strong team player who can build relationships and work collaboratively across the region and organization, including with TNC partners.
