An additional 2 PAs are also available to support the community specialist palliative care team employed by York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to provide maternity cover from March 2024.

This post is part of an exciting growth of local palliative care services.

Since 2021 York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has employed a second consultant in Palliative Medicine focusing on community care.

Together the four postholders will work closely to co-ordinate and deliver care across all clinical settings.


St Leonard's Hospice is ranked among the top 20 hospices nationally for financial sustainability and is therefore able to respond to new opportunities for innovation to enhance patient care and influence wider services.


The hospice was rated as 'Good' in the latest CQC inspection, and it is our ambition to build on this with a new 5-year strategy.

Part of this strategy is to extend our care to under-represented groups and enhance education and research activities.


This exciting opportunity is for applicants who hold a full GMC registration and who are on the GMC specialist register for palliative medicine, or willing to work towards this in the first 6 months in post.

You will need to be enthusiastic, have a caring manner and a willingness to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
